This or That? Christmas Movie Edition – All Your Questions Answered

  • Reading time:3 mins read

Have you ever wondered when it’s appropriate to start watching Christmas movies, or which version of The Grinch is the most popular? When you need answers to life’s burning questions, there’s only one place to go. Twitter.

Roku asked its Twitter followers some of these extremely important questions about holiday movies, and the people have spoken. Since Twitter is rarely wrong (cough), it’s important to take these results as facts. Let’s get started!

What is the correct day to start watching Christmas movies?

According to Roku followers, there’s a right and wrong answer to this question, and it’s any time after Thanksgiving. However, a whole 23% say it’s perfectly acceptable to start in with the Christmas classics on November 1. It will give you something to watch as you eat your Halloween candy.

Which is better: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or Frosty the Snowman?

When it comes to these two family classics, 75% say Rudolph is a better Christmas Special, and we have to agree. It’s not that we hold anything against Frosty, but there’s something about the claymation story of the misfits Rudolph and Hermey taking on the Abominable Snow Monster that gets us feeling like a kid on Christmas again. Plus, with a running time of 47 minutes, Rudolph is more than twice as long as Frosty so we can enjoy a little longer.

Which adaptation of The Grinch is your all-time favorite?

Was there ever any debate on this? Unless you answered with the original animated special narrated by Boris Karloff, your childhood did you wrong.

You can only keep one… Holiday movie edition

Twitter picked which Christmas movie it couldn’t live without, and Home Alone wins this battle with 34% of votes. A Christmas Story came in at a pretty close second with 30% opting for the classic.

Is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Last but not least is the question that’s been a source of heated debate since the beginning of time (well at least since 1988 anyway): Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Twitter votes yes. In this poll, 73% of respondents say the Bruce Willis action flick is actually a holiday movie. Which is interesting since it was originally released in July, a whole 5 months before the holiday season. Plus, Bruce Willis himself disagrees, but who are we to question Twitter.
