Samsung’s CES 2021 Lineup Includes Neo QLED, Massive MicroLED TVs

We’re fast approaching the online-only 2021 iteration of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and Samsung has offered up a preview of what it has in store for the event, and for the upcoming year. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the company’s continuing to focus on bigger and better TV tech, including a line of what it’s calling Neo QLED models and more size options for the home version of its MicroLED display tech.

Samsung’s Neo QLED lineup features 8K and 4K models with what it calls Multi-Intelligence AI Upscaling and Virtual Object Tracking Sound, which adjusts sound based on on-screen movement. The company says these new displays feature more precise lighting and better viewing angles. And thanks to more compact packaging compared to traditional LEDs, Samsung’s promising slim displays on its Neo QLED line.

Elsewhere, the company also announced more size options for the consumer version of its MicroLED displays. The tech was first shown off in the company’s “The Wall” series — its large-scale, modular displays that used multiple screens connected together to form a single display. Commercial versions of the display technology have been available for a few years now, and the company has shown it off at prior CES events.

A 110-inch consumer version was announced last month, and Samsung is following that announcement today with news that 88- and 99-inch variants will also be available. Multi View allows the display to accept up to four sources at once, meaning the 110-inch model could offer up four 55-inch screens at once. The company also points out these models, unlike the earlier commercial versions, will be user-installable — no certified technician needed.

Samsung also said it’s continuing to explore more eco-friendly approaches, including more ways to repurpose its TV boxes by converting them into cat condos, toys, and more. It also mentioned offering a new Eco Remote Control that can be recharged via an onboard solar cell. The company says it can operate for up to two years on one charge. The Eco Remote will be included with all 2021 QLED TVs.

Samsung’s also offering up a preview of its CES 2021 wares via a “first look” video available on its website and YouTube. The video should be live as of the publication of this story and you can find more info here.

CES 2021 is set to officially kick off next week and we’ll have much more coverage throughout the week. Stay tuned for more news from the virtual showfloor.
