Netflix has unveiled a year-end report revealing viewing trends and its most popular shows of 2020, and needless to say, the world spent a lot of time in front of the TV this year. Netflix subscribers seem to be branching out in their genres as well with comedy, anime, romance, and international titles on the rise.

With titles from Spain, France, and more gaining popularity, viewing of foreign-language titles was up over 50% this year compared to 2019. Anime viewership was up 100% in the US, and K-drama almost tripled.

Netflix viewers also spent twice as much time watching documentaries and reality TV this year than last year. Everyone loves a good true-crime series, and Netflix always comes in clutch in the binge-worthy department. Tiger King was a huge draw for the streamer this year, which is no surprise given its widespread popularity across social media and more. And the original dating series Love is Blind remained in the US Top 10 for 47 days straight after its release in February – the second-longest run of any title behind the animated YouTube Kids- derived Cocomelon at 64 days.

Between Adam Sandler’s Halloween movie, Kevin Hart’s stand up special Netflix’s original Space Force starring Steve Carell as a Government position-holding Michael Scott, Netflix viewers got in plenty of laughs to distract them from the outside world.
