Award season begins with the 78th Golden Globes, which will honor the best in film and television of 2020 and early 2021, as selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The Golden Globes is known as a party for the stars due to being more relaxed and not as formal as the Oscars. This year’s show will try to keep the same vibes, while also being the first bi-coastal ceremony in its history.

HFPA will partner up with Dick Clark Productions for a pre-show that will be interactive through Twitter including polls, fan questions during interviews, and live content via Twitter Fleets. The pre-show will serve as a countdown and will be hosted by Sofia Carson, and reporter Zuri Hall. They will be joined by Rasha Goel and Scott Manz who will be conducting remote interviews from the Beverly Hills Hilton.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the unprecedented bi-coastal event from two different locations. Fey will be hosting from the east coast at the Rainbow Room in Manhattan, New York, and Poehler will be hosting from the west coast at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association decided to reunite the pair who did a phenomenal job hosting the event from 2013-2015.

Some of Hollywood’s brightest stars and former Golden Globe winners and nominees are expected to make appearances at the venues as presenters including Awkwafina, Cynthia Erivo, Joaquin Phoenix, Kevin Bacon, Kristen Wiig, Michael Douglas, Renee Zellweger, Sterling K. Brown, and many more. They will be joined by Golden Globe Ambassadors, Jackson and Satchel Lee, the kids of director Spike Lee. Plus, this year’s nominees will be making virtual appearances from around the world as the ceremony continues to practice safe COVID protocols.

Streaming services are expected to win big as streaming services have over 60 nominations combined in television and film at this year’s ceremony. You can check to see if your favorite film or show is nominated by checking out the full list of Golden Globes nominees.
