The 6-1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking to get back into the College Football Playoffs discussion on Halloween weekend. The No. 11-ranked team in the country will host the 4-3 North Carolina Tar Heels in a must-win game for both programs.

After beginning the season on a 4-game winning streak, the Fighting Irish lost a game to the Cincinnati Bearcats back on October 2. At the time of the loss, Notre Dame was the 9th-ranked team in the country, which pushed them down the college football rankings. The Irish have rebounded with back-to-back wins over Virginia Tech and USC, but have yet to crack the Top 10.

Like the Irish, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels has had a disappointing 2021 campaign. The Heels were a preseason favorite after entering the season as the 10th-ranked team in the country behind Heisman-favorite QB Sam Howell. UNC loss their opening game to an unranked Virginia Tech team and Howell hasn’t played up to the hype. Carolina was blown out 45-22 by Georgia Tech and suffered a 35-25 loss to Florida State. They’re currently 3rd in the ACC Coastal division and will need to win out and get some help if they want to make the ACC Championship Game.

In the booth for Saturday’s game, Mike Tirico will call play-by-play, and Drew Brees will join as game analyst. The duo will be joined by sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen and rules analyst Terry McAuley.

The Fighting Irish faithful will be in attendance for the big game with over 77,000 fans expected to fill up Notre Dame Stadium. Cord cutters who will not be in attendance can find out how to watch Notre Dame vs. North Carolina, below.
